Recording regular/single/lapsed supporters on RE

I'm interested to know how you would mark a constituent by donor type (e.g. lapsed, lost, single, regular etc)?

We are keen to mark each supporter in this way but unsure the best way to do it. I have thought about attributes and constituent codes, which both have pro's and con's, so thought I'd see what others are doing and find easiest to manage?

Thomas - Wondering why you'd want to 'mark' the donor since these conditions can change at any time? If you 'hard code' these, then you'll have to then go through a rigorous process of keeping these codes reviewed and updated.

It's usually best to create standard queries to search for these conditions - lapsed, lost, single, regular - however you've defined those conditions. Then at any time, you can view these queries, or use these queries in exports and reports. These can be added to user's dashboards as well, for convenient access.

Don't know if you went back to forum on line to post your reply. In case you didn't, a number of us have already marked Gina's as a good answer but maybe not taken the time to post.

Ditto - to me that data changes way to frequently to enter on a record and I think you'd find you soon had a lot of mis-coded records. Go Query!!!
