Linked Shared Address Query

Options
Hi everyone,

We have just gone through the process of having our data screened by a wealth screening company. One of the companies we used provided a list of constituents with properties worth £1mill +, we want to record this in the address attribute tab.

My manager has just shown us how to link addresses between constituents, and we wondered if there was a query to show have many have a linked address? As myself and another newish colleague haven't been linking address we don't know how many haven't been linked!

The list we have from the company is rather long and we don't really want to enter the info manually to each consituent who has that address!

  • I'm not sure why this would go on the address record. If you don't have the prospect module, I think it would be best as a constituent attribute on the head of household record for those propects/donors.

I don't see anything in the constituent query that would indicate if an address is shared.
  • Also, if you included the constituent ID or import ID with the list you sent your vendor, constituent attributes can be easily imported in Raiser's Edge (no manual entry work needed).

I'm a bit confused.  Is the reason that you want to put that in as an address attribute because you're interpretting the report to mean that that one, specific piece of property is worth that much?  If it's a wealth screening like I've seen it could mean that cumulatively they own multiple properties worth that amount.

I'm not aware of a way to show what address are linked, may be there but haven't seen it.  Is this a separate question? Or what does shared addresses have to do with the wealth screening report?  Are these people all at one address?

Could you query them by a postal code?  If you have that info in report, you could possibly do a query postal code one of and paste in your codes. If you have to enter it manually might be easier with a query to just move through or if you can get exact records you could see about a global change/add.
  • If you did not include Constituent ID or Import ID in your submitted data, you can use MS Access (and possibly, probably, MS Excel) to match everything back up.  Let me know if this is your situation, and I'll try to help.

I would also concur, though, that Prospect Module is the most appropriate place for this.  And if not there, then, assuming that maybe in your country (not sure where, but assuming not USA) the data comes back for each specific piece of property, I would still think carefully before using Address Attributes.  Because it will probably be harder to pull that data back out in a useful manner.  Plus, you won't have an easy way to look and total the complete value of all properties.

I would use Constituent Attributes or if there is so much data for each person (and no Prospect Module) that it would clutter up your Constituent Attributes Tab, I would look at adding one Action to each Constituent, and putting the data on the Action Attributes for that single Action.  This way, it's in one place on each Constituent Record, but tucked a little more out of the way.

Linking or not linking addresses isn't too big a deal if you are regularly screening your address data and importing the updates to your database.  I'm fairly certain every country with BB users has some sort of screening from what I've read in various Community posts.  And of the linking that may be important, it's more the Org-to-Indiv that matters, in my experience.

    Hi Jennifer,

Thank you for your reply it was actually the most helpful!

We did give the vendor the constituent ID so that would be helpful import it back in. Unfortunately we don't have the prospect module. The reason why I asked if there is a linked address query, as the data we submitted inculded current parents (current pupils were not included). So we want to record the findings on all the records with that adddress.

I think I will give helpdesk a ring too and see what they suggest

    Thanks again!
