Auctions - what fun to track/receipt etc!!!! Ugh.


We enter each item on the record of the person donating it to us.  We use gift type of GIK.  There are lots of threads in past about value to use.  (Also great threads on fundsvcs.org site).  Fair market value is often different that value donor can claim. Item details can be reference field or notes depending on what you need. 


You can enter a gift code or gift sub-type depending on what you expect your reporting needs to be.  For us the gift type and the fund our auction money goes to provide enough for us to pull any needed reports.


That's just what we do. Other orgs may do something completely different.
