How does R.E. calculate "total given" from a donor under the prospect tab?

Does anyone know how the "total given" is calculated in R.E? Are pledges, soft credits, and/or matching gifts used to make this calculation?

Also, I want to know how are R.E. calculates "total amount of gifts" under the "Summary Information" section of query. Does anyone have any suggestions with getting the best data? (Do you filter out pledges, matching gifts, etc.)

In the query just specify/select the gift types you want included: cash, payments, etc. in your query criteria. It depends on what you want for what you include. May be different in each situation.

You do have to watch for writeoffs. RE does not handle them like many of us would like - if you're including pledges you'll get full amount.

Thank you. What about "total given" under the prospect tab. I actually was going to cut out the query part for a later post because the latter is the more pressing question I have.

The Total Given under the prospect tab is a user setting, and can be different for each user. To either view current settings or edit them, click on the words Total Given, which will bring up a definition dialog box, where you can adjust what counts (gift types, soft credits, etc.).
