Total Gift Summary in Export - restrict by gift attribute?

I have run a Donor Category analytical report and restricted it to output only the donors falling into one bracket ($50K-$74,999, for example). I was able to restrict gift types and funds for this report, and also could indicate that I only wanted to include gifts with the "Campaign Name" attribute that I specified.

The report generated an output query of just those constituents. I would like to now create an export of information for just those constituents.

MY ISSUE: I would like to get a summary, total gift amount for each constituent matching the number from the initial report. I run into a problem getting a matching figure. I am not completely positive that this is the issue, but I do not seem to have the option available to restrict which gifts are counted based on that campaign name gift attribute, which I used in the report. I seem to be able to restrict similarly to the report for the other variables (funds, gift types, etc.).

Is there any workaround for this or am I missing something more obvious? Thank you!

Yes, there's a workaround. Create a gift query of just the gifts you want. Then in your export, in the summary field filters, rather than filtering by campaign or fund or appeal, choose to filter by query, and put in your gift query.

Thanks, James, that's it! I had been messing around with a gift query and didn't quite know what to do with it - thanks for helping me put all the pieces together. I really appreciate your help!
