Good afternoon,

I am trying to create a query where I am looking for donors within certain zip codes, a lot of zip codes. Is there an easy way to paste/import a number of zip codes into the "one of" field?

Specifically, looking for any donor in any of about 75-100 zip codes. It seems there should be an easier way than to type each zip code individually.

I search for multiple zip codes, by using "begins with" and only the first 3 numbers in a zip code.

This is a free add-on that you can use: https://www.smartthing.org/portfolio/smartpaste/

One thing to be aware of is that if you have ZIP+4 in your database you can't use "One of" unless you also specify EACH of the possible +4 possibilities. RE doesn't compare just the first 5 digits for a match. It compares all 9 (plus dash). So you're stuck entering a whole bunch of "Begins with" (5 digits) OR "Begins with" (5 digits) ....

Ditto what John says -- the "one of" doesn't work here. You have to use begins with and do that for each ZIP, or if you are lucky enough that they are only ZIPs that begin with the same 3 numbers you'll have a lot less work on your hands.

We do a combo of other users' suggestions, but it's not perfect. We do One Of and paste the 5 digit zips, then we also use Between to catch 9 digit zip codes in the target area, and select US as country to avoid pulling Canadian codes. I also use Mappoint: I export from my query and those zips are pulled from a spreadsheet and then shown on a map, then I draw a radius to pull any zip in the area, 9 digit or 5 digit, and check that all the zips are in the geographic region I intended. By using Mappoint, I can also pull query by city/state to find addresses where the zip is wrong. (We don't have address accelerator, so this is a frequent problem)
