  • Great idea!

I work for Kelowna Gospel Mission Society in Kelowna, BC. (Okanagan Valley).  We are a 90 bed shelter (80 men/10 women) which also provides 3 meals a day 365 days a year, caseworkers, free haircuts, clothing bank, showers etc.  We have two recovery houses for women, a men's day program, a thrift store, and a free, basic care, 5 chair dental clinic..  I am the only gift processor for 7+ years and have been using RE for 6+ years.  I now find myself the main user/administrator/ go to person for all things Raiser's Edge. As my job expands I still have lots to learn about RE...uses I didn't even know existed (i.e merged queries!!!!!!)  I appreciate all the help I find on line but am looking forward to more as well as hearing from specifically Canadian contacts! smiley
  • Hi, I work for Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation in Burlington, ON.  I am the Business Systems Manager responsible for gift and pledge management, support in the financial management of the data, and provide crystal reports on the progress of the fund raising initiatives to date.  I definitely would appreciate connecting with my Canadian peers.
  • My name is Keri Eadie.  I am the Database Administrator for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.  I have been using Raiser's Edge for over 15 years.  I love the product and the opportunity it gives me to be creative with problem solving to get what I need from the database.  I have also used NetCommunity Spark, Online Express and at the Greater Vancouver Food Bank we are currently using Luminate Online and Teamraiser.
  • My name is Caitlin McLellan. I am the Manager, Prospect Research and Information Systems at Brescia University College at Western in London, Ontario. I am the RE database manager. I've been working with databases for several years, but I've been on RE for less than a year. I'd appreciate connecting with fellow Canadian users!
  • I'm Jody Johnson, IT Trainer and Project Coordinator for the Canadian Cancer Society AB/NWT. I train our staff and volunteers on Raiser's Edge, Luminate Online and other applications. I project coordinate for our team. I manage the IT volunteers and am the back-up Online Systems Specialist. I have been here for 5 years, but have been working with Raiser's Edge for more than 10 years.
  • I'm Jocelyn Brulotte, Fund Development Manager for the Alberta SPCA working out of our head office in Edmonton. We're a small-ish shop so I'm also effectively the database administrator as well. I've been here for about a year but have worked with RE for over 10 years. RE here has been somewhat under utilized and needs to be re-structured. Working on that over the summer. Looking forward to chatting with fellow Canadians!
  • I am Hilda Pries, Database Administrator for Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA), in Waterloo, Ontario.  I have been working with RE (BBNC,Sphere, BBMS, etc) for just over 7 years.  We have started a local RE user group here in the KW area, and we meet about every two months for Brown Bag lunches.  It is great to connect with other RE users to discuss best practises and other topics with local people.  It would be awesom to have the Canadians attending BBCon meet earlier in the week, so that we can get to know each other.
  • Hello there RE users of Canada! My name is Jessie, I'm with World Relief Canada based in Markham, Ontario. I have been using Raiser's Edge for over 15 years! My job title is Donor Sevices but I prefer to call myself Donor Relations for I do a lot of "relationship" building with our donors by phone, email. and sometimes letters too. I'm responsible for managing constituents/gifts, I do a lot of Query for mailing purposes and do all sorts of Reports. I'm comfortable using RE but still cannot figure out how to do crystal report though :-(

  • Hi everyone,

I was thrilled to see this forum this morning.  I am new, new, new to RE (less than a year). I am the Development Coordinator for the currently under construction Remai Modern Art Gallery of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon.  Opening Sept 2016, we are trying to get our database up to speed.  We transitioned to RE last June from @Ease and are currently working to Configue and clean up RE to meet the needs of the new gallery. We are also moving towards implementing OLX in the near term and having discussions about IT ecosytems in our new building. (i.e. point of sale, ticketing, memberships, RE, etc.) Lots of BIG discussions happening here.  I am also interested in learning more about what people do to verify their addresses.  We have inherited alot of of historical data.

    Cheers!

    Hi Keri,

I believe we connected on the phone a few months back about OLX. Nice to see your name pop up here.

  • I work at Vancouver Island University, Nanaimo, BC, as the Data Coordinator for the Advancement & Alumni Relations department.  I am bCRE certified and enjoy my position and working with RE immensely.  smiley
  • Hi Eleonore:

Thank you for posting and i am glad i found someone who has used both RE and FE. I would be happy to connect and find out your experience in integration of RE with FE. I am with Autism Speaks Canada and we went live RE in July last year and FE in March this year. We are hosted and integrated. I wonder what your experiences are and what challenges if any you have had to overcome. Regards, Lena

So tempted to thrown down my best Canadian "accent" here...but then remembered that it's a bunch of Canucks looking at this so you might not find the 'eh' quite so amusing. laugh

I'm part of the team at the Winnipeg Art Gallery. My role is the Database Administrator. I've used RE for almost 10 years in a few different settings and roles. I've had opportunity to use it with a number of related software applications (e.g. Blackbaud's SIS, FE, and NetComm. as well as PaperSave). I invite you to send me a note and/or friend me. I'm happy to help if I can be of assistance to you.

Looking forward to learning from you.

  • Hey y'all,

I am the Stewardship Coordinator for a regional health centre in Barrie, ON. I am bCRE certified, but continue to learn new and exciting ways to operate the RE database (you know you're a data geek when you use "database" and "exciting" in the same sentence).

I wear many hats in my current role...database guy...pledge and gift processing guy...social media and comms guy... direct mail guy... all buried under a number of responsibilities that would fall under the "other duties as assigned" portion of the job description.

Look forward to connecting with many of you. If any of you are attending the November fundraising congress in Toronto, perhaps we can grab a coffee and connect - technology free the old fashioned way!
  • Hi everyone.  My name is Sherri Hamblin.  I am the Database Administrator (in addition to Annual Giving Officer) for the Fund Development team at Bow Valley College in Calgary Alberta.  Although only having been with the college for 10 months, I have been working in one capacity or another with The Raiser's Edge since 2007.  Since that time I have worked with many of the modules including tributes, volunteer, prospect, and events. In my former position, The Raiser's Edge was integrated with The Financial Edge - I was also the administrator for this and worked closely with our finance department.  Much of my current position is focused on managing the pipeline for our Major Gift Officers, creating invite/mailing lists, and reporting.  I can honestly say I learn one thing new every day in RE - it is a never ending process.

Hi Jody, we met a few years back through my daughter, Ashlee.  Great to see you on here. Your knowledge will be an incredible wealth to this forum.

  • Morning everyone!

I'm part of the development team at POGO (Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario) with my role being Development Assistant. I’ve only been using Raiser’s for 2 years, so was thrown into the deep end when I first started here. In addition to managing the database, I also do all the gift processing/receipting, financial reconciliation, query/report pulls etc. We just started using Luminate Online about a year ago so I’ve been overseeing that platform as well.

    Always learning something new!

  • Good morning everyone,

Just saw the link to this in the RE news email.  Very cool.  Manager of Finance for the Evangelical Free Church of Canada - Home Office in BC.  Basically I spearheaded the implementation of FE and RE back in 2010.  Because of the integration with the 2 programs, I kind of automatifcally became the office "database expert/manager", even though I am an accountant :)  My finance team is in RE regularly recording donations and keeping the constituent database up to date on the donor side.  We also use NetCommunity for the online donations/webpages.  The whole office uses RE for the database (all other constituents) and event management module.  We are still learning things, even after 5 years!  But it's been interesting and we've been able to be very innovative as far as reporting goes (including historical and analytics, very helpful).  RE seems to have endless opportunities and I am always open to hearing new ideas of what others are doing with RE.  I am part of a Blackbaud User Group in Vancouver and go to the organized sessions often; very helpful to be able to have real-time discussions with other organizations and learn from each other.  Cheers, Cathy
  • This is a such a great idea! Hi I'm Beth Borschiov Duffus and I am the executive assistant for The Actors' Fund of Canada. We've been using RE since January of 2013 and are still finding new ways to use the tools every day it seems. We also have Netcommnity:Spark. I do the major lifting on the data entry, issue all the acknowledgements and tax receipts, and manage the printing of the donor mailings so I have found lots of workarounds with RE but am happily using it every day in very straightforward ways as well. I am happy to answer any questions the data managers might have. Because our organization is so small we all get to see both the minutia of daily gift and constituent entry and the amassing of data for the high level decision making. We also have an annual golf tournament that the Event module has been great for planning.

I actually live in Burlington, ON even though our offices are in Toronto, ON (we are the only office but have a national reach.) So it's nice to see you Nancy Foster I didn't realize my hospital was using RE, that's great to hear!
  • Hi - I'm Andrea Clark and I work at the QEII Foundation in Halifax.  Have been working with Raiser's Edge since we converted from FundMaster in 2002.  My roles include; preparing the mailing lists, preparing names for recognition pieces, regular queries to keep our data clean, importing data and global changes, query and report requests from DO's, managing the past due process for pledges, as well as NetCommunity email lists and creating forms in NetCommunity.   I am currently RE certified (took the exam two years ago now).
  • Hi, I am Harriet Farmer, Coorfdinator: Databases at the Ottawa Humane Society.  We have been using RE for about 10 years, as well as other Blackbaud products such as Financial Edge, NetCommunity and Kintera Sphere.

My rolei is a combination of DBA and in-house RE support and training.

Our major initiative has been growing our monthly giving, and we now have over 6000 monthly donors.

Our Electronic Giving has also grown by leaps and bounds, and we now have a dedicated postion to look after all e-giving, and social media.

I am looking forward to attending the upcoming BBON and hope to meet some of you there.
  • Hi Everyone!

I'm currently the RE Database manager for Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern Alberta. I've been in this job for 2.5 months now.  My roles include payment processing, acknowledgements, reporting, training, Donor wall management... anything to do with RE.. I'm it! Prior to this I worked at Make-A-Wish New Zealand. I've been using RE for about 2 years now so still fairly new!

I'd love to connect with others who are willing to share ideas and tips and hints etc.

I'd also really love to talk to people about Event and Prospect modules as well as NXT as we are looking into moving / upgrading our system.

    Lovely to met you all!

    Carley.

Hi Everyone! I'm Danielle and I am the Database Admin at the Jane Goodall Institute of Canada, based in Toronto. I've been working with Raiser's Edge for 7+ years and still lots to learn! We are currently struggling with the new-to-us Events Module and would LOVE to talk to someone in person about how to best use it. We'll be at AFP Congress in a few weeks and would love to connect.

  • Hi everyone,

I work with WaterAid Canada in an admin/donor relation role. We are an INGO that supports some of the world's poorest and most marginalized communities to set up practical and sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene projects. Our vision is that by 2030, everyone, everywhere will have access to clean water.

Our organization is new to Raiser's Edge and I'm looking to connect with our fellow Canadian RE users for Canadian specific tips. Our transition from Income Manager to Raiser's Edge has been bumpy - so I am very happy to see that this post exists!

  • Great initiative! My name is Jason Drury and i'm with Fanshawe College (London Ontario). We recently signed up for RE NXT and couldn't be happier with the product. i'll be sure to start adding friends so we can share information. As we all know, there are differences in fundraising between Canada and the US so it's good to have our own group.
  • I work at Canadian Mennonite University in Winnipeg.  I would also welcome being part of a Canadian RE User's Group.
