Problems importing Gmail contacts to Participant Center

We've now received a number of reports that people experience an error message when trying to import contacts to the Participant Center 2 from Gmail. Screenshot attached--it's a very generic error message. This has been attempted by a variety of people, on a variety of networks and computers, using different browsers and different platforms, on different days--and the problem persists.



Is this a known issue, and is there any solution in the works? Anyone else encountered this problem, and have you found a workaround?

    I think Blackbaud sent an email notification sometimes around April 13 indicating that the Gmail imports will no longer working for the time being due to the change on the standard authorization called OAuth which this imports functionality is dependent upon



    Below are excerpts from that email communication / notification



    "Google has made the decision to change their Gmail contacts import API from OAuth1 to OAuth2. Currently, Luminate uses OAuth1"  



    and as result




    "Luminate’s current integration with the Gmail API will end as of April 20, 2015 and constituents will not be able to import their Gmail contacts into a PC2 event through the automated functionality. Importing of contacts via .csv file will still be available."

  • Thanks, Daniel, that does explain it. I don't believe I saw that email notification. I will keep an eye out for any updates on this situation, though.
  • This issues has been resolved.  You should be able to import contacts from Gmail.
