Constituent Address Import by .csv

Options
I am amending some addresses on RE 7.93. I have an import file ready to upload using RE Import/Constituent addresses. Part of my import is to overide the existing postcode (zipcode) with a blank entry. My import works as I've tested it, all except for the blank postcode. I've tried reformating the postcode cell from text to general and text to number but it does not work. I do not want to have a space in the cell, I just want it blank.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to override an existing postcode (zip) with a blank entry?

Thank you

  • Unfortunately, you cannot import a null value.  What you can do (probably...I haven't done it with the zipcode field) is to import a text string that isn't used on any other records (so like "555").  Once that value is imported to RE, you can use a Global Change to delete that field.  I recommend testing with a handful of records first, and after a full backup of your database is made.  That way, if something goes awry, you can manually fix them.
  • Hi Georgina,

This article on Knowledgebase references importing blank field to override existing values. Looks like all you have to do is put a ^ in the field.
