Quickly find and edit Luminate Online pages using a browser add-on

Options
Hi Community!

I'm one of the Luminate support analysts, and thought I'd take a moment to share a tool that we (in support) use regularly. It's an add-on for Firefox and Chrome called, "Luminate Online Page Editor":

Download for Firefox

Download for Google Chrome

It's free to add to your browser, and causes an icon (image of pencil and paper) to appear in your browser toolbar, when you're on a Luminate Online page. Simply click this icon, and you'll be prompted to log in to Luminate Online with your admin credentials, and immediately taken to where the page can be edited on the back end of Luminate Online.

This is a great way to save time, and comes in especially handy if you're unsure of where the page lives on the back end.

Cheers,

Jake

  • Thank you so much for sharing this - very useful!
  • Just downloaded this now!  Oh my GOSH!  This is my new favourite tool!  Thanks Jake!
  • And if you happen to use Safari or Opera, there are extensions for those browsers as well.
  • Hi Noah,

First, thanks for createing this extension - great time-saver!

I just updated my Mac and upgraded to Firefox 4 (v40.0.2). Firefox has decided to get rid of the Status Bar at the bottom of the Firefox window (for Mac at least). Therefore, the edit icon no longer shows up when I'm on a Luminate page.

I've been searching for solution but haven't found anything. Do you have any advise or work-around for Firefox 4?

Would you consider updating the extension to be compatible with Firefox 4?

    Thanks,

    Francis
  • Francis,

The edit icon in Firefox actually now appears at top right due to the change you mentioned to remove the status bar.

One interesting thing to note is that Mozilla just announced that in the near future they're going to get rid of their add-on architecture and instead move to using Chrome extensions. That'll be good, because it will mean that Chrome, Firefox, and Opera will all have one standard for extensions, and the way extensions work in Chrome is a lot better. When that happens, the edit icon will move into the address bar like it is in Chrome and Opera now.
