Reciprocal Relationships

Options
Our business processes have always included adding a reciprocal relationships when we add a relationship - whether the relationship is linked to another constituent or not.  Is this a standard procedure?  Or are there times you don't add a reciprocal relationship when there is no linked constituent record?

Just checking to see what other do?  Thanks in advance.

The reciprocal relationships are required fields for us for all types of relationships.

I believe this was recommendation of our consultant when we converted to RE.  Having the data can be useful for queries, having for reference and don't have to worry about adding it when relationship might be changed to have its own constituent record.
  • I agree with JoAnn - you may want to create full records for these relationships at some point.
    • When we started to use NetCommunity for our large emails, it requires a full constituent record in order to access the email address on the record.
    • So even though we really didn't need a full record for these constituents for general purposes, we needed to create a full record for contacts with emails for this specific functional purpose.
