New Birthday Engagement Campaign

Hi all,

We just began a new Birthday Engagement Campaign.  It enables individuals to sign up to "Share Their Birthday", forward an email to friends and family during their Birthday month and have them celebrate with a contribution in honor of that individual. 


I signed up last week for the Birthday pledge and just received the Welcome Series (again) even though i'm already on the enews distribution listing.   


If a new "Birthday Pledge" participant is already a enews recipient, how do we stop the Welcome Series from being sent to them?  Can Luminate recognize only NEW emails when an individual signs up for the Birthday pledge?


Any help you can provide would be much appreciated!

    This all depends on how your welcome series groups are being built. Those should already be filtering out old/existing constituents... as they are typically setup to recognize new registrants (i.e. as of yesterday, or within the past week).

    By design, once someone receives the welcome series email (or any Lumiante emai).. the system should automatically "not send" it to them again (unless they are a new/different consituent record). Keep in mind that if someone signs up via the Birthday Campaign with a new/different email address, they will be created as a new constituent and start to receive the welcome series "again" (but really.. the system just sees them as a new constituent). 


    It's hard to advise much beyond that w/out actually digging around in your welcome series setup, but if you're able to find and share the query info that builds your welcome series group, I'd be happy to review that for you to see if there's something in there that is failing to filter out old constituents. 


    Another saftey net would be to simply create an additional query group based on something like "constituent record created more than 15 days ago"... and then use that group as a "Do Not Email" group on each welcome series email to prevent older constituents from being included on those emails.

  • I wonder if this is a duplicate constituent record issue rather than a problem with the Welcome Series query.


    If the system is creating a new constituent record when they sign up for the Birthday Pledge, this will need to be corrected in duplicate resolution before the next welcome series.
