Automatic Download

Has anyone ever had to do a daily automatic download from Raiser's Edge to another system? I remember reading about a few years ago...something about a Que, but I can't remember any of the details. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • What do you mean by automatic download? What type of information are you trying to get at? There is an optional module called queue. It helps to schedule reports to run automatically and then saves the report for your access. This is very helpful with reports that take some time to run. Is this what you are speaking about?
  • Yes, we move data nightly from RE to another system using Automated Queue. The .csv file is output to a specific file location which is then picked up by another program and moved into the other system.  It all happens automatically and we only have to interviene if something doesn't look right.  I managed the RE side of it and our IT consultants managed the automated pickup process and another department manages the import of the file into their system.

Queue takes some patience to set up, but it's great once you get it working.  You can access the Queue for Task Scheduling Guide in the knowlegebase which will give you more details.
  • Thank you so much for the help!

Thank you so much! I knew something like this exists, but couldn't remember the actual name or function. I really appreciate your help!
  • Thanks for your post and the replies to them. I had no idea that this functionality existed. We have a few challenges in terms of transferring data from one database to another and this might help with improving the process further down the line.

  • Hi all,

Will this also work if we are hosted on the Microsoft Azure server? Thanks!

  • @Lijun Yuan yes it works if you are hosted but it costs additional money to sign up for Queue.
