Conditional merge fields, or another workaround?

Concerning page elements that use merge fields to pull data from RE: Is there a way to make the merge fields conditional, like If the linked record is an individual it will pull First Name, but if it's an Org it will pull Org name? If I add the merge field for Org Name and the linked record does not have an Org Name (it's an individual), will that cause a problem?

    I'm referring to webpage content. I have a part that's used on personal giving pages that pulls the constituent's first name into the title on their page: "Welcome to 's personal page!" But now I have people that want to create a page for their group or organization (Roller Girls of This City). I want them to be an ORG in RE, but then their personal giving page title says "Welcome to 's personal page!" There's no first name to pull in. I heard that fundraiser pages are really set up to handle an organization signing up, so I know this may not work as I hoped.
