Popup user survey

Options
Is there a preferred method or third-party service for doing a popup user survey on a BBNC site? Much like Blackbaud has touted DISQUS as a great way to add commenting to site pages, is there an easy way to implement a popup user survey?

We'd like to survey our site users on their experience over the course of a few weeks. We don't want the survey to be simply linked from the sidebar. We'd like it to be a popup or overlay that interrupts their browsing experience once, and then not again if they do not want to participate. Any suggested services that do this?

  • Jill - i'm sure some other folks have similar methods for this but it's an idea I've experimented with recently too. I used an unformatted text part to embed a survey monkey form that will create the desired effect.

    pop up survey in BBNC
  • Hi Justin,

Thanks for your response. Is this achieved just by having the survey open in a new window? I've been dying to implement something more like an overlay modal window on our BBNC site for months, but I haven't found any clear way to do it. My hope would be that instead of clicking on a link, the user would be presented with the survey as a popup once, and then if they reject it, it would cookie them and know not to appear again. I know a million different sites do it, i just can't seem to find what services they are using.

    Thanks!

  • Yes, without any special tricks other than placing inside the Unformatted Text part this will display once automatically (not clicking required) - and then not pop up on future visits due to cookie tracking.
  • Justin, but how do you control when the popup appears if it's not triggered by a click? Is the survey part on a page of some sort with a smaller template??
