BBNC Opt out/in based on "from"

Options
As a health system, we have several areas that emails come "from" I know that through the newsletter feature people can opt in/out based on the newsletter, but is there a way to set it up for emails? So that people can opt in or out of emails "from" a particular department or group? We have found constituents associated with 2 or more of our areas and because they first received communication from one area it opted them out of all areas when they may want emails about one thing but not another.

  • Hey Renee,

Sounds like you guys would do better using Newsletters instead of messages. You'll have some attrition when you switch over, but it'll give people the granular choices you're looking for.

Here's the things you'll want to review for newsletters.

    Thanks!

  • Newsletters will not work. The emails we send out are currently to "Members" and we do not necessarily want them open to the public. We don't want the public being able to opt into a member only newsletter. This is why we went the route of emails so we can use our member lists whether they are uploaded or pulled directly from RE. Because each email comes from a different part of the system that is why it would be beneficial for us to allow opt in or out based on the from. So if you are a member of our Women's Council and our Fitness Center but you only want to receive emails from the Women's Council then you could opt in for emails from Women's Council (specific email address) but you can opt out of emails from the Fitness Center (different specific email address). But all of these come from the same BBNC account so if someone opted our of the Fitness Center email a couple years ago and just joined the Women's Council, they are not getting the emails because they opted out of emails.

Not sure if this is making sense or not.
  • Hey Renee,

Are you looking for a way to do this without your members creating a login? If we don't require them to create a login then it'll have to be open to the public or your members won't be able to access it either. If you're OK with them creating a login we can use a profile form with constituent attributes for each "from".

    Profile Form: https://www.blackbaud.com/files/suppo...

How to add attributes to a profile form: http://www.blackbaud.com/kb/index?pag...

Once that is set up you just edit the query so the criteria look at that attribute.

    Thanks!
