Our organization is thinking of purchasing NetCommunity and we are wondering if anyone can tell us if you find the NetCommunity plugin helpful? What do you like most about it and what are the limitations? Thank you.

  • Which package are you considering (Grow, Spark, etc.)? Also, do you want to self-host or have Blackbaud host it?
  • Not sure. What is the difference between Grow and Spark? And do you self-host or have Blackbaud host? Thank you.
  • Spark is the basic package, it gives you everything you need to set up donation forms, let donors sign in to update contact info/view donation history, send email to constituents. If you have the corresponding RE modules, you can also buy modules in NetCommunity that let you manage memberships, events and volunteers online as well.

Most BBNC Spark sites that I've seen have a main website that is separate and then link to the BBNC site for their donation pages

Grow is pretty much the full package and is designed for you to run your entire website on BBNC. It would essentially replace a Content Management System like Wordpress, Drupal or Joomla.

I believe the Grow package also includes some strategic guidance with regards to online fundraising from Blackbaud as well.

With regards to hosting, my organization uses split hosting (RE is hosted at our office and NetCommunity is hosted by Blackbaud). Unless you have IT staff at your org, I would recommend having it hosted by Blackbaud.
  • Thank you Luke. Do you like NetCommunity? Do you know of any cons?
  • Blackbaud will tell you all the pros and then some ;)

For the cons, I would read through some of the posts on here. Especially the ideas and problems.
