Advertising space within NetCommunity Directories

Options
It would be beneficial to be able to sell advertising space on the landing page of the various directories that are created through NetCommunity. Currently, we publish a print version of the Business Directory with sold advertising space, while looking to go green and be more practical, if ad space could be saved on the landing page as well as the Office have the ability to sell individual ads that would be part of the individual profile. NetCommunity seems to be robust enough to handle this, just need to figure out a way to add these (custom?) parts.

    Hello Kimberly,

Do you mean the page with the Profile Display part? If so, you're correct. There's not a way to have a different ad show on each person's separate profile display.

    Thanks!

Is there a way to show the ad on the main page of the directory? Could we display multiple ads on this page?
  • Hello Michael,

Sounds like you're providing them a graphic then, right? If so, then Kimm's question becomes "How do I upload and put a graphic on a NetCommunity site?". Kimm, are you familiar with upload images? If not, here's the steps on that http://www.blackbaud.com/kb/index?pag...

    Thanks!

  • Hi Karen - this is Michael De Pellegrin (from the Communications Office) responding for Kimm. Can you please explain what you mean. We advertise online with several different companies and we are always asked to prepare artwork based on specs sent to us for common sizes (leaderboard, big box, etc).

    Thanks,

    Michael - md@smcsmail.com
  • Hello Kimberly,

Someone who wants to advertise online will not provide you a print ad. Don't worry, I'm sure if they are familiar with internet advertising they'll know what to do. I apologize that I cannot provide more details until you have the ad in your possession.

    Thank you!

    Hello Kimberly,

Yep. The advertiser should supply you with the code, just like in print advertising they would supply you with an image.

    Thanks!

    Karen
Okay, I don't understand where the advertiser would get the code. We thought we sell the ad, they supply the ad (as a print ad) and we then post it using the unformatted text part. Is this correct?

    Hello Kimberly,

Of course! If you want to add custom code to any page please use an unformatted text part. I assume whoever does the ad will provide you code.

    Thanks!

    Karen
Just I am unsure what you mean by code

when you say code....the advertiser will supply the ad and then we can add it to the page using unformatted text part?

  • Hey Kimberly,

You can add whatever content you want to NetCommunity, so there's no need to build something custom for this. If they give you custom code this goes inside an unformatted text part.

    Thanks!

    Hey Kimberly,

I suppose I'm confused then. Why does the ad itself have to appear inside the directory? Can't it just be on the same page as your directory?

    Thanks!

    Karen
We thought that the landing page was inside the directory. We would like to sell multiple ads if possible

  • Karen Badham:
    Hello Kimberly,

    They is whoever is advertising.

    Thanks!

    Karen
The online business directory resides in the BBNC as a directory.

    Karen
I am a little confused. We, the school, would like to sell the ad space to alumni for advertising in the online business directory. BlackBaud support said that it was not possible and I should enter the suggestion into this forum.

How would the advertiser supply the school with a custom code? Is that their ad and we can insert the ad into an unformatted text part?
  • Hello Kimberly,

    They is whoever is advertising.

    Thanks!

Can you tell us the steps to do this? We have asked several support staff and have been told its not possible and to recommend it in this forum.

"If they give you custom code this goes inside an unformatted text part." Who is they?

    Thanks
