Can I embed a You Tube video in an email blast?

Options
Is this possible or only a link to the website? Trying to do away with extra clicks here ...

Thanks

  • Hey Robyn,

It's not possible, but the reason doesn't have to do with the software you're using to send the email (NetCommunity in this case).

Email clients will not read embedded videos like a browser can. The only exception is youtube videos in gmail. Both of these are owned by Google, and they have built a special feature for it.

The workaround is to take an image from the video, and using your preferred image editing software put a play button on the image. You can then upload that image, and make it a link to the page with the video on it.

Please note this answer will be the same no matter what software the email is being sent out of.

    Thanks!

  • Email clients support HTML5 video tags but when I place a bit of HTML5 code

into a NetCommunity email message, Netcommunity adds additional code and neither the videos nor the fall back image display in test emails.

(Code snippet does not display in reply, even inside < pre > tags)
