Alumni Online/NetCommunity Bug generates compulsory additional educational record

Hi. Have been having a problem for the last 5 months when processing Alumi Online transactions on NetCommunity. The problem is that an additional Educational record has to be added to every record existent or new. Obviously we don't need to add education to all records as many already have it so they get created and deleted straight away. I have been told this is a bug on NetCommunity. Has anyone been experiencing the same problem/ or does anyone know of a way around this problem? Thank you in advance! Elisabetta

    I've worked with sever clients experiencing this. The best workaround I've found is to remove school name and class of from the new user registration form. That way you aren't even asking for the education information.



    I've also found a lot of schools really only want to collect class of information for alumni, so they'll add constituent attributes to the form to ask if someone is an alum or not, and if so to fill in their class of. Since these are attributes and not required it's a little less invasive. I even know of a few who are planning on continuing to do it this way even after we fix what's happening now with the education information.

  • Hi Karen - thank you for your email. Unfortunately this isn't the case for us. We don't use attributes that way. We actually use the Educational record and all the fields and therefore we can't remove it from the registration form. Any idea of when this will be solved?

    For when someone will be resolved you'd want to ask whoever the case owner is for where we told you it was a bug. That's the easiest way we can get you that information.



    Please note it is often not possible to give an accurate answer to when something is fixed. Every bug goes through quality assurance testing, and sometimes things don't pass. This means any estimation we give you may be wrong. Because of this we will often not be able to give you anything useful for this question.

    I know this post is 2 years old, but I am experiencing the same issue with NetCommunity STILL when the new registration pulls into Raiser's Edge.  I'm wondering if you have had any resolution or suggestions of how to fix this.
