Classic and 2.0 Version Event Registration Form Differences

Options
Can someone tell me the specific differences between the Classic Registration Form and the 2.0 version? I understand that organizations can be registered now which is a huge relief. What else is different? Better? Thanks! I'm about to set up another event.

  • Hi Karen, I'll definitely check those out. thanks for the tip.
  • I typically recommend reporting off of the "Guests" so you capture everyone plus participant attributes. The main participants tab of the event will show the actual registrant (free or paid) and the guest(s). By reporting off just "Guests", you see actual counts, people and associated attributes.

I do have a problem with this and there is not real fix. I've spoken with BB about it. I just delete the guest part.
I have this happen frequently. I thought it was because the registrant was listing himself as part of the golf foursome. Have you found a way around it? It's particularly annoying because the gift info is on one and the needed attributes are on the duplicate.

Hi, Laurie - I don't think that's a good idea, since the guest record contains the participant attributes selected during registration.

  • Has anyone else noticed this behavior? When a person registers through the new event registration form, two participant records are created - one registrant record, and one guest record - and both records are for the same person. The NetCommunity plugin only shows one transaction, the registration is for a free event, so there's no "sponsor" and guest on the form itself. Is this by design, or a glitch?

We are on 6.55 now. While both Classic Event Registration Form and the new Registration form handle participant attributes, they display them differently.

    Classic form:

    New form:

As you can see, the new form adds a blank field, whereas the classic form had none. With the classic form so we could use "Please Select" to prompt the registrants to respond to our questions. I filed a case, and got the typical response that I've come to expect:

-------This issue is known to our Product Development Team. They are considering changing this issue in subequent releases of NetCommunity. There is no road map as of right now for when this cosmetic issue will be resolved.------

followed by the usual "community feedback" spiel.

Blackbaud management: why are these changes made, when no one asks for them, and then it takes ages to get the original back?
DOH! The new event registration form shows a blank field for non-required participant attributes, and shows the first choice when a field is required.

  • Richard - Please see screenshot attached, showing where to enter the full styles for event form into your stylesheet.
  • Hello Laurie,

Here's a link to the new features guide which will get you started on understanding the differences. https://www.blackbaud.com/files/suppo...

    Thanks!

  • Hey Richard,

When I need to know what class or ID something is I like to use FireBug. Chrome's F12 is also good. If you do it that way you don't have to memorize or understand the classes, just look them up. I find it's more efficient to do it that way.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks Julie, though problem is i can't find where the styles for the new registration form exist.
  • Hi Richard - You can open your stylesheet and add the 'defaults' for the event registration form, then edit those styles to match your site.

  • is there any way to change the look of the new event registration form? its style is really clunky looking and just doesn't fit with the look of my company's site so i'd really like to customize it stylewise if possible.
  • The Capacity Limited is also not available on this part.
  • Hey Julie,

The participant attributes are coming to the new form in 6.53 which is coming out very soon.

    Thanks!

    Karen
  • Laurie -

The "new" form does not include participant attributes or the payment cart, and the final payment screen takes the end user off of your website entirely to a non-designed, Blackbaud payment screen. That has caused a great deal of confusion for my clients trying to deploy the new event form. My suggestion for now is to remain with the "classic" until these few issues/improvements are made to the new form.

    Regards,

    Julie
