Of the 30 links in my email, which one(s) did my email recipient click?

Options
This is a question I received from one of my customers - is NetCommunity (or RE) able to report on which link(s) in particular an email recipient clicked.

This is important to them as they send emails with multiple topic areas and so they would like to know exactly which links people clicked to collect information on interest areas.

Right now, we can only see if an individual clicked a link, which is helpful if an email is concerned with only one area of interest or topic ie. an appeal, event invitation, sports, etc.

Yes, if you're using a constituent list you can see this on the NetCommunity tab of the constituent record. If you're not, NetCommunity still reports summary information of the click throughs and conversions. This is on the email report inside NetCommunity itself.

If you have something specific with this that you'd like to see as a new feature for email reporting, please create an idea :)

    Thanks!

  • Hi Karen,

Just to let you know, I have gotten confirmation from the UK and from our NetCommunity people that it is not possible to report on the exact link in an email containing 30 links that a recipient has clicked on.

You can only report on whether or not a recipient clicked a link from an email not the exact links they clicked.

I would be interested to hear more about what you meant when you said it was possible using Constituent Lists because I cannot seem to find any reference about the process.

    Best,

    Ray
  • Hey Ray,

If this works differently in the UK version of Blackbaud NetCommunity and The Raiser's Edge then I would have to bow to whatever our Europe support office said. The versions I have to test with are our US versions.

As far as the US versions if you use a constituent list this is on the NetCommunity tab of the constituent record.

    Thanks!

  • Hey Everyone,

Adding some clarity to this thread for others reading it.

The reporting in NetCommunity is per link. The reporting in The Raiser’s Edge is per recipient.

We can look in The Raiser’s Edge to see if the user clicked a link or not, but it doesn’t say which link. We can look in NetCommunity to see what links people clicked, but it doesn’t say which recipient.

    Thanks!

  • Is this a feature or a bug? Is is meant to protect privacy?

    Thanks,

  • Hey coberjoe,

This is an explanation of how things work now. If you'd like to see any of it change, please create an idea thread when the specifics of what you want to see work differently.

    Thanks!

  • This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled

How do I see who clicked on links in a BBNC email?.

All I see in the email report details is total # of clicks per link, not which recipient made these clicks. How can I download or view a list of who clicked each link? Thanks!
  • It would be nice if Net Community email did have this option, as some of its competitors do. We sometimes use Constant Contact and I can see exactly who opened what link. I love Net Community's interface to Raiser's Edge, and it is why we continue to keep it, but in so many ways, such as this, I'm afraid it is just not keeping up with its competitors.
  • I think this feature would be incredibly power to add. We are starting to use BBNC for e-mails to group recipients and links include hosted reports. It'd be very powerful to show that a user both received and viewed a specific link either on the NC tab in RE or within BBNC itself.
  • This is a feature we also need. We need to be able to tell who clicked through on what.
  • How do we get this into action? Does this count as an idea to be added to the idea bank?
  • Many shopping sites now send follow-up emails to compel you to come back to your shopping cart.

Reminding people who were close to making a gift or registering for an event is a logical next step. But we need to be able to query on the people who clicked those links!
  • I just checked. We are using emails with constituents and our BBNC shows report on the exact number of recipients who clicked particular link. There is no way either in BBNC or RE to display by recipient which exact links were clicked by individual. RE query allows to output field Email link clicked but if there are more than one links there is no way of determining which one was clicked.
