"Primary Salutation" merge field doesn't work

Options
I just sent out an email blast to our major donors and prospects. All of them have well kept records in RE. I used merge field "Primary Salutation" but it's not working. The email were received with "Dear , " Very embarrassing.

I also sent a batch with "First Name". That seem to work.

Do you have any idea what negative impact this has on my work?

Hi Heike, I'll certainly look into this.

Can you tell me how you have your add/sal merge fields mapped? You can check by selecting Account > Integration options, then vising the "Addressee/Salutation" section.
  • That explains it .... I did not know that I have change these presets. I mainly have used First Name in the past, and I was thrilled when you added the other options.

I would be helpful if you would give those merge fields different names ... "primary salutation" is an RE field so I assumed it would be automatically mapped to the corresponding field in RE.

By renaming the fields to something that does not exist in the exactly same form in RE, it would make it clear that the field needs to be mapped again.

Hey Heike, glad we got to the bottom of the issue. I understand what you mean and I think that's a good idea. I'll look into it with the team.
