Golf Tournament / Goods & Services Letter

Options
Does anyone have a sample letter that is sent to sponsors after a golf tournament?  We need wording on how to acknowledge tax-deductible portion of gift/sponsorship.  Also, any guidance on how to build query from event module is most welcome.  May cross post this to get maximum exposure.

  • We acknowledge them based on the gift record (gift query). This is the tax statement at the bottom of our letter:

Fresh Start Women’s Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, EIN 86-0762610. The estimated fair market value of goods and services received was $335.00 per person. Please consider this your tax receipt, and consult your tax advisor for specific tax deductibility.

  • Sunshine,

Is this what you have on receipt for participants or for sponsors?  If sponsors, I'm confused.
  • Our sponsors get one or two foursomes. Thus, the amount per person in our statement (they do their own math for that). In other organizations I merged the receipt amount on the tax statement with a sentence about $XXX being the tax deductible portion of their sponsorship. Either way works well.
  • Hi Kim!  Here is an example of our golf sponsorship letter for foursomes.  Hope it helps! :)

Thank you for your cash contribution of $XXXX that we received on 8/12/2015 in support of our Annual Golf Classic.  In exchange for your Foursome sponsorship, we gave you one (1) foursome with an estimated fair market value of $644.00.  For federal income tax purposes, only the portion of your payment that exceeds the fair market value of goods and/or services received, if any, is a tax-deductible charitable contribution.
