nonbinding gifts

How would you record a large nonbinding gift in RE? We have a letter regarding this nonbinding gift that also lays out how it will be paid. My thought is to record as a pledge, but use the annotate to say that "any correspondence/discussion regarding this pledge will be referred to as their nonbinding gift".  To me all our pledges are technically nonbinding since we can adjust and write off. I feel I just need to let our director know that it is a term in our database and does not mean it is binding.
