  • We use static queries in RE to calculate donor retention rates each fiscal year.  Instructions can be found on Blackbaud web-site. Step 1. Create a static, constituent query of constituents who gave last year.  Run the query and note the number of keys generated, which is the number of constituents selected.     Step 2. Create a static, constituent query of constituents who gave this year and base it on last year's query.  Run the query and note the number of keys generated, which is the number of constituents selected.  *On the records processing tab, mark the select from query checkbox and browse to and select last year's query.           Step 3. Calculate the donor retention rate by: a. "This Year" represents the "Number Retained".  B. Take the "Number Retained", divide by "last year", and multiply by 100 to get the retention rate percentage.

    Hi Christie,

Great question! I look forward to seeing what ideas community members have around measuring donor loyalty. In the meantime, I'm moving you post from the feedback forum to the general discussion forum so more people can see it.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Holly
