Last Action Dates including spousal records

We give spouses their own constituent ID (but linked as spouses of course). I am trying to figure out how to run a list of people who have given a gift this fiscal year (including spousal gifts ie soft credits), but have not had an action added by a specific solicitor. Problem:  the gift could be in the husband's record, but the thank you call in the wife's record.

Another report I would like is trying to find out which constituent has a solicitor assigned to them, but has not had an action added by that solicitor.  Again, the action is likely only recorded in one spousal record. I need that couple then to NOT show up on the report.

This sounds easy, but for some reason I am struggling to get an accurate report.

Any advice out there?

    Short of creating a very complex custom report I don't think you're ever going to get accurate output.



    To avoid this situation many organizations have a policy to only enter such Actions, Gifts, etc. on the record for the Head of Household and have a popup set in Business Rules to alert users to only enter on the HoH record.

    I think that John's advice is right on and would solve this problem moving forward, but as to the report you need to do right now, I think you have two choices:



    1) Run a report on giving and a second report on actions.  Compare the names, etc. to find the descrepancies.

    2) Export all of the actions and then create an import file to import a du[licate copy of the actions onto the spousal record.  You can then run the report as you already were attempting to do so and it should capture every record with an action and a gift.
