Linking proposal to spouse
Is there a way to link or "soft-credit" a proposal to a spouse? So that if you pull up the wife's record, you'll know what proposals are active with the husband?

We don't have prospect module so can't check it myself but what about a business rule with a pop-up based. Not sure if you could create the query needed or not. Just an idea.

We struggle with this as well. You can't link a proposal to a spouse (that would be fabulous), but we do use business rules in a way with a process in place.
All proposals go on the Head of Household record as do most gifts. We have a business rule for "Const has a proposal, be sure you link all gifts to the proposal". I haven't figured out how to see if a spouse has a proposal. That would be great.
If anyone else out there has figured this out, I'm sure we are not the only two people with this question. I would love to hear from you!

We struggled with this too. I decided to created an attribute "spouse record." I added this to each spouse record that is not the primary record holder. It is mostly the husband who is our primary unless the wife is a board member, committee, member or has another affiliation with us and the husband does not. She then becomes the primary and he is the spouse and would ge the "spouse record" code. I then created a business rule "all prospect proposals are entered in primary record." So when someone goes to secondary record, the rule pops up and they know all prospect proposals and information are in the primary record and switch over to that to see all the prospect information. This seems to be working well for us.
This attribute all helps us when doing mailings and we don't want to send to both at the same address. We subtract this attribute out of our mail merges. Or sometime we want to send to both then we include it.
Good luck!

Stamford HospitalThanks for posting how your organization does this. I didn't want to have to put a const attribute on all the "spouse" records, but that may be the only way in which we could build a business rule as well (to catch only the spouse records that have a proposal on the head of household record).

Thanks for the "work around" ideas. It seems cumbersome, but do-able I guess.

NO - there is no reason to use an attribute or constituent code to "code" a spouse for a business rule. You can create a query that is looking for records whose spouse is HOH. Those records can then get a business rule warning you that you are in a non HOH record and all actions, proposals, etc. are on the HOH record and they need to look there. This just means you have to consistently use the HOH record to record proposals, actions, etc. that currently can not be shared. Thanks for posting how your organization does this. The only thing that the attribute would add is give me only the spouses that have a proposal. But this makes more sense, so people don't add a new proposal, gift, or action on the non head of household.

I am looking for a way to do this as well, but it needs to be a little more robust and "modern". HOH is such a loaded title that our staff are hesitant to use it, as it is likely to denote a rather misogynistic viewpoint. I would also llike to be able to link multiple constituents under one proposal, perhaps a business and its three partners/owners all under a single proposal. I am often coming up with new prospects for review, and then discover that their company, business partner, spouse or other family member already has a proposal on record. it requires some signficant extra steps to identify. Perhaps we could request the ability to create a jopint proposal for any constieunts that are already noted in the relationship tab?
Your thoughts?

RicYes! Ric, I think your idea about linking other constituents to a proposal could be what we are looking for.
