Options

When you are entering spouses, former spouses, children and other relatives on the Raiser's Edge Relationship tab, do you enter the actual date the relationship began in the "from" field (and "to" in the case of former spouses) or do you enter the date you were notified of the information.

We use the date of the relationship status. For former spouses we "end" the spouse relationship and "begin" the former spouse relationship. In the future the timing of the donors relationships is what will be valuable info not when our organization found out about the relationship

If we know the from/to date we enter it.  If we do not, we do not enter any date. Example putting a start date when we learn of a spouse name should in no way imply that that was the wedding date unless we have researched it and have an exact date to enter.
