RE Not Exporting to Microsoft Office 2013

Options

My computer recently was updated to Windows 7 with Microsoft Office 2013, and after re-installing RE, everything seemed to be working okay, until I had to do a thank you letter and some reminder letters. I put in a call to Blackbaud, but they said it was a Microsoft issue and to contact my IT person. I would like to get this fixed ASAP and my IT person isn't around at this time. I was wondering if anyone else had this issue and what they did to resolve it?

This is what happens: I either do a thank you letter from the gift tab, or do reminder letters from the mail tab, they both do the same thing: I hit the Word button for it to export to Word, and an error message comes up: "Error: Cannot open a database created with a previous version of your application when running a mail merge". The Knowledgebase (https://www.blackbaud.com/kb/index?page=content&id=BB748738) that the Blackbaud rep sent me says that "This occurs if Microsoft Lync has been installed recently on the workstation" and to "Perform a Repair to Office."

So is it a simple un-installation of Lync? I wanted to see if anyone else ran into this issue before I start trying to fix it myself!

We had similar issued when we installed Lync (though still otherwise using Office 2010), but we were also running RE 7.92.  We uninstalled Lync, but continued to have the same problems. So we moved ahead with the upgrade to RE 7.93, after which Lync, and all of Office 2013, ceased to give us problems.

If you're still on an earlier version of RE, upgrading just may do the trick.  If you're already on 7.93, I don't know what else to suggest.

Okay, after I get the error message and close the window, a window for Data Link Properties comes up.

UPDATE!!!! I just called Blackbaud again and they noticed I didn't have the most recent patch (I thought I did since I just re-installed everything). I did the patch 5 and it is working now!! Yay!!! Hope this helps someone!
