Gift Dates Exporting in Different Formats

Options
We have noticed in one of our queries that when it is exported, some of the gift dates are in a different format. For example some get exported in the 12/15/13 format and others get formatted in the 12/15/2013 format. I've checked the dates in the output of the query and everything is fine there. Does anyone have any insight on what is happening? I've tried reformatting all of the dates, and the ones formatted like 12/15/2013 change completely to 17/1/2014, 17/1/2015, 17/1/2016 etc... continuing to the bottom of the spreadsheet.

Sara,  you mentioned query, export and spreadsheet in your post.  Want to be sure I'm looking at your issue correctly.  The dates display in the same format while in query?  When you export are you clicking the export icon or using the export function of RE?  Then once your data has been exported to excel, you are seeing the different formats.  Are the differences within one field/column?  (That's wierd) Or are they different fields with data info?

Once the data is exported to excel my understanding is the display has more to do with your settings/format in excel.  In your example of reformatting it looks like you wanted a fill down but you did/got a fill down series (why the year increased for each record.)

I've had issues with dates in excel fields even this week.  Entered 1/21/2014 in one field and was fine; went to anther field and it came out with a date that had '5's and '3's.  Had to do the formatting option for the column in RE several times before it would correctly display.  Very unusual.

If the differences in the data display are from the same field being exported straight into RE, I'd call support.  It really shouldn't make a difference once records are saved if the date was entered 12/15/13 or 12/15/2013.  How it's saved should be uniform.

Hi JoAnn: Sorry I wasn't completely clear with my question! You are correct that the dates display in the same format while in query, but when I use the export icon and open up the excel spreadsheet the date column is in two different formats. (Totally weird) When I noticed the two formats of the date column, I highlighted the entire column and formatted them all as a long date and some changed from a numerical format to, for example, January, 17, 2014. This is incredibly strange, and I think it's time I called support! Thanks for your help!

Hi! I'm having the exact same issue. Did support ever get back to you?
