Gift Card Donation - How to Process within RE?

Hello Everyone:

I hope you would be able to assist me in the best practices of entering a gift card donation within the RE tool.  Does anyone have any guides and/or suggestions?

Please advise.

     If you mean that someone donated a "Gift Card" to you for either your use or to give as a prize/award I would be process it as a Gift In Kind.

    Sometimes search function is no help - I know there have been posts on this but unable to find them. :)  Maybe posts were on fundsvcs.org.  Also discussed those donated by a store and receipting them correctly.

    Based on your info... 

    Is it going to be used by your org?  I'd enter as GIK.

    Is it going to be sold for cash? Then stock/property.

    My opinion...

    The org will be using these donated gift cards in various amounts (donated from anonymous or an individual) to hand out to our clients during our Christmas program.

    I will be entering these as a gift in kind record with the amount and donor information if applicable.

    Do you think there is anything else that I would need to capture .. other than the donor information & amount?

    Hi Nina,

    Thank you for the info and will be doing a gift in kind record.  These are donated to the organization to be used for the Christmas program and will be given to our clients.

    Maria,

    Right now I can't think of anything else.  Suppose you could record card # but don't think it's necessary.
