We are a small shop as well.  One thing our auditor would mention annually was internal controls, however, he understood that segregation of duties for us was a little difficult. 

We have set restrictions on various users.  Our fund development people can pretty much only add actions.  Our administrative assistant does all the data entry and gift processing, but I do not give her administrative rights.  Our executive director and myself are the only ones with administrative rights.

For the past few months, I have been working on cleaning up years worth of bad data.  After 9 years in the Foundation...I'm finally just finding the time to do it!  Good luck!
