RE automatic emails via query

Options

Hi,

I'm actually a web guy who deals in BBNC vs. RE, but I've been asked to find out if there's functionality in RE that allows emails to be sent automatically to constituents who meet specified criteria. Does such a thing exist, and where can I find some information on it?

In anticipation, thanks.

Not sure what you mean by "automatically". There are a few email scenarios that work in RE. Do any of these fit the bill?

You manually setup and a global add of actions and you can send an email to the records on which you are adding the actions (basically you are sending the email to a query group and recording the send as an action at the same time). This is part of the basic RE package. It is not automatic in that it needs to be initiated by a human, but it can email a group based on a query.

If you want to do e-receipts for constituents who give, I think there is some functionality in RE but I have never used it so I can't even tell you where to begin.

You set up a report in RE that needs to be sent to a group of people on a regular basis. If you have the optional add on RE:Queue you can schedule an email send of that report to any list of emails you want (do not need to be constituents in RE). This one is the only real "automatic" one that I can think of since it requires no intervention by a human other than setting it up with a schedule.

     Hi Melissa,

thanks for getting back to me. By 'automatic' I was trying to express the idea that there is an established query, and users who fall into the parameters of that query are automatically sent an email from RE.

For example, a standing query could be 'all users who have completed their 12th monthly donation get an email thanking them for their first year of contribution' or 'all constituents who have raised $1000 or more in the current financial year get an automatic thank you email'.

Your last paragraph seems to describe something like this, so I'll investigate the 'Queue' further. Thanks.

Actually I do not think that Queue fits the bill for what you want either. It sends to a static group of people a report every day/week/month. You can not establish a query group which will be the recipients. Nor do you really have a report that is the same you would send to the whole group.

To do what you are describing, I think you need the VBA module and a programmer.
