It is the gift processor where I currently work however in my previous position it was me as the Director of Development Services.  My director and I battle with this one he allows the gift processor to do this however does not hold her responsible. He holds me responsible as the Data Services Manager.

Database & Information Manager. I am the only one who creates new funds (as well as campaign's and appeal's).

I create new funds in RE at our organization, but I'm the database administrator and the advancement services director.  I'm not exactly sure which hat I wear when creating new funds :-).  I took a guess and voted for database administrator.

This also depends on the definition of "creating new funds" (Fund & GL Distributions or just Fund?) and your organization's policies, and if RE is integrated with FE.  I can create a new fund record (i.e. I have the security permissions in RE), but our finance dept would still have to enter the GL Distributions because our RE is integrated with FE, so they just do both.  It would also be good to know the process involved (creating the fund on your own vs. finance requesting a new fund be created in RE vs. finance dept approving new funds in RE before they are entered).

I voted database admin because that is my title.  However, I also process the gifts, do the research, work with Finance on funds/GL etc.  Your question may be moot in my office as we do not have different positions for RE tasks.  However,   I create the RE funds in coordination with the Controller creating the GL distribution funds in their system (not FE).

I put "Other" since I do the job, and I'm Director of Development Services. That said, I create the fund in RE, but like Josh's situation, I then notify Finance, and they do the GL distribution, since we have RE-FE integration.

DBA creates funds AFTER conferring with finance.

Other: Assoc Director of Advancement Services; similar situation to what others have mentioned where Finance creates the fund in FE first, then we create in RE as we are linked between the two.

For those of you replying other and stating an Advancement or Development Services Director - do you not serve as the DBA or do you supervise the DBA. Please clarify. When I listed database administrator I was indicating a role - not a title.

We have a Business Systems Manager who is actually the DBA for RE, FE, and our ticketing system (among other things). So, while I am responsible for a good amount of policy and decisionmaking about how we use RE in many areas, I'm not the DBA.
