Change Fund info for Past Gifts

I'm cleaning up our fund categories because of overlaps and duplicates. Since there are no ways to merge funds and the gifts dedicated to those funds, what are some ways that I can change the fund information on an already committed gift?

When I was challenged with creating a new Campaign structure, I used BB's unpost gift utility to globally change gifts from the previous fiscal year so they would match the new Campaign structure for comparison purposes.  The utility worked fine for me.  I just made sure I fully understand what I was doing and most importantly, made sure I understood how to prevent the gifts from being re-posted to FE.  Check out BB for more info on this free utility.

That was why I asked if they were posted. If posted, you would have first needed to deal with that.

So now the question is, do you need to record these changes as adjustments or are the changes to the funds simply combining funds/renaming funds and the change is immaterial? If you need to do adjustments you may need to do them manually. If you are ok (according to your internal policies) with them simply changing you can do a global change. You just need a query of the gifts that need to change and run the global change.

WARNING - always make a backup of your database prior to doing any global change.
