Export "class of" in mail

Options

Does anyone know if it's possible to export the constutent "class of" to a word letter through mail?  We have 2 different annual fund people and "their" constituents are divided by their classes, so I want to create a condition in WOrd that if class of is greater than or equal to 1990, then enter XYZ signature.

 Thoughts?

Paul, If you pull the Class Of field in the Primary Education section in your export, you should be able to add an if/then statement to the letter setup in Word which will do what you have described. I'd be happy to talk you through it- please feel free to give me a call at 215.821.8183 or email me at matt@clemmensconsulting.com Thanks, Matt

Matt, I am sure as a consultant you know that Mail and Export are not the same thing. Since Paul asked about Mail, one assumes that the benefits of using Mail are what he is looking for.

Paul, Which type of "mail" feature are you looking at. In quickly looking at Quick letters and Donor Ackn letters - I do not see class of, unfortunately. Making all fields available in Mail is the #2 item currently in the RE uservoice site with nearly 500 votes.

    http://rediscovery.uservoice.com/forums/137015-raiser-s-edge-discovery-topics/suggestions/2557011-make-all-fields-accessible-in-mail-functions.

It is therefore in Active Discovery. Because they are unlikely to actually make ALL fields available. I highly suggest you make a beeline there and a) add your vote b) Add a comment specifying this as a field you want added and c) contact Jenn Mercer to volunteer to do Discoverly on this should you want to. Jenn is good peeps.

Melissa, My point exactly- since the Class Of field is not available through Mail, Export is the way to go when pulling any Alumni details into a merge letter. It would be great if these fields were available in the future, but having worked with hundreds of schools on this type of process over the past 7 years, I have helped develop tools which allow these export/merge/tracking processes to run as smoothly as possible. Again, I would be happy to help- 215.821.8183 or matt@clemmensconsulting.com. Thanks, Matt

Yes - I was looking to do it through mail so that I can just run one batch...

Then you need to be more clear that you think you are offering an alternative. Often people just need the answer to the question they asked. When you go off on a tangent, I suggest you be clear and FIRST answer the question they asked before re-directing them to your other solution.
