New Participant Center Messing Up Emails

Options

Does anyone have expereince with the new participant center for teamraiser. We are finding that:

1) When looking at sent emails, the center can only display two or three recipent names. It simply runs out of space in the left hand column to display more names. When you have a participant who sends out 10, 20 or 50 emails, they cannot look back and see who got those emails.

2) On the same issue, how can you monitor who opened your emails in the new particpant center? I see no capability for that.

3) When using the sort function to sort contacts, the "Need Follow Up" sort funtion appears to bring in emails from past Teamraisers, which really messes people up.

Anyone have any tips on dealing with this? We are telling people to avoid using the particapant center email functions because they are so buggy.

  • PC2 is way better than the old one, but I agree that the email center leaves alot to be desired. Navigating the interface is quite confusing in spots. (Especially returning to an email after adding contacts from your list.) I have long been considering adding a better help system to guide users.

    1) As a user, if I were emailing to a large number I would create a group. It doesn't make sense to expect 50 names to be visible in the summary list of sent emails, Outlook wouldn't do that either (though it would be nice to show it on mouseover or something.)

    2) I don't think users can see that info in PC2. I would also like to see a nice summary of email statistics when opening the email from SENT, rather than/in addition to just opening the email itself.

    3) We run quite a few TeamRaisers and have several cross-over participants. I haven't heard any reports of this. Have you confirmed this is happening? I put each of our TeamRaiser's in a different Security Category. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Seems like a bug to me too, but I also wouldn't be surprised if this is intended behavior. There is cross-over between teamraisers in the advanced search for donors too (I hide the advanced search link with CSS for this reason.)

If you are telling them to avoid using the email system, it might be nicer to just hide the button.

    #email-nav-link { display: none; }

Bummer though, it is a pretty important part of TR fundraising.

    Hi guys,

Just wanted to pass along that I submitted a feature request to Ideas in order to make the previously sent address within PC2 more visible. My request is under the Convio employee area and I would advocate that you add your own into the client area, so we can get this additional attention!

    Thanks,

    Heather

Good idea. There's a couple of things in this thread I was eyeing for IDEAS. Thought I'd give this discussion a chance to cook a bit and then enter them.

Thanks for the info Brian and the clue on how to hide the email button (!).

I have a related question -- how do you see who has opened an email in Participant 2?  As I recall, the older Participant made it quite easy to see when an email was opened. The only option I see here is the "follow up" group. And I have one report of user who attempted to use "Follow Up" and it brought up emails from a previous Teamraiser event she was registered for, which really confused here. Any tips?

I don't think you can see open rate any longer. I started with Convio just before PC2 came out, so I'm not super familiar with how it used to work. Not sure why that would have been pulled.

If you have the name of that participant, I'd contact the chat support guys and have them take a look. They can log-in as the participant and confirm what's going on there. I've never noticed that happening, and I would think I'd have gotten some complaints as well if that was happening here.

I got a response from Convio support saying I should install the particpant center upgrade of  2010-09-02.   Does anyone know if 1) that makes it easier to see reciepients when the group of receipients is larger than three? and; 2) does it allow you to see who has opened emails (other than using "Follow Up").?

I am hesitant to do any upgrade when my event is three weeks away!

    Thanks,

    David

The TeamRaiser PC2 was updated as of the Winter 2011 Snowbird release to include sent, opened, visited personal page, and donate metrics for members of a participant's Address Book.  You do need to upgrade your PC2 to be able to take advantage of this new functionality. (I find this to be beneficial; having to manually upgrade your PC2 even after having your entire Convio site updated with the latest release allows you to do some testing to ensure that any code changes will be compatible with any customizations for your participant center, and it also allows you to message participants about upcoming changes on your timeframe.)

Hey cool, thanks for that link Derek.

It should have occurred to me that I've only updated a couple of my PC2s to Snowbird so far.
