Email to multiple TeamRaisers

In my role, I often send emails to event participants across the country. For example, I would send a "Register Now" email to Ontario and BC past participants. Currently we are using a third party email service where we upload a list of email addresses from our database. All the segmentation is done manually in Excel.

We are going to be rolling out our events using TeamRaiser in the fall and I was wondering how I would do this within the system. I see that I can send coaching emails to each individual TeamRaiser but I would need to send an email to, for example, all Team Captains in Ontario Walk events. Is a group automaically created for something like this? Or would i have to do it manually? Is there a way to automatically put a new participant into an additional group other than the one created for the particiaption type?
