Questions re audience

Can you provide some info on how audience will be built?

We have planned to do two versions of the first email and they have in fact been built into the campaign. We have created two different groups (yet to be populated) that these email versions should go to. The plan was to allow 2nd and 3rd emails go to both groups without versioning.

Not sure if I understand how the first email versions can go to two different groups. Looks to me like the audience is same across all emails within this campaign. (Maybe through the A/B test ?)

Also do not understand what the mechanism is for sending the Stewardship card to donors vs. non-donors. How is this managed in audience / groups?

  • Hi Greg.

Within Convio, you can set the audience for an e-mail message in two places: at the campaign level (which is what I think you're looking at) and at the message level. So, in order to send e-mails to different groups, we would just select the right group to send each message to at the message level.

Of course, for the first appeal, you are responsible for building those groups. Do you know the criteria for what will make up the different groups? The standard for the booster shot program is not to segment the first appeal, but we can if you want. Once the groups are populated with constituents, then we can assign them to their respective messages.

We will do something similar for the e-cards. Using the query tool, we can do a search for those who have donated and those haven't. We can then create groups from those query results, and, as above, then assign those groups to the proper messages.

So the most important points here are that you do have the ability to set an audience at a message level, and you can create groups based on a wide range of criteria by using the query tool.

If you have other questions, just let me know.

    Scott
