  • I was uable to join yesterday's call but I just watched this presenation - it's GREAT! Thanks so much!

I have two questions on this topic:

    1. When putting a link to a news article on our facebook page do you recommend linking to the article on the media website (i.e. New York Times) or putting the article on our website and linking to it there? I can see advantages to both: it's great to drive traffic to your website but I wonder if seeing a NYT link gives it credibility and would convince more people to read it?
    2. Can we make updates and changes to our fan pages on our smart phone apps? I currently use the facebook app on my iphone. If so, how?

Thanks again! Everything you guys do is so helpful!

For the updating of the fan page question, honestly I had to look it up because I didn't know myself but apparently you can do it straight from your iphone facebook app as long as the user you are logged in as has Admin privledges for that fan page. See here: http://socialmediaseo.net/2010/01/05/update-facebook-fan-pages-from-your-iphone/

For the linking questions. I think I've mostly seen people link straight to the article instead of hosting it on their site. Not sure if it violates any copyrights to copy the article and host it on your site, you might want to look into that but that would be my only major concern. Also, it would just be more time consuming on your part to create each page for every article + you have pagebuilder page limits to have to stay under or else you'll get charged extra page fees. If you are constantly posting links that are relevant and valuable to your followers they will keep coming back even if they click away to read an article.

    Cheers!

Andrea- I echo what Ken shared below.

Towards the beginning of the presentation, in the content section, there is a slide with the "Mobile" admin section. This shows how an admin can email in updates/multimedia to the FB page without even needing an application. As for using an application, simply visit the page on your phone application and if you are an admin you should be able to make some basic updates (though you won't have all the edit options as with a PC browser). You can also edit the page from a phone browser versus an actual application.

Regarding links, the standard for what we see most times is an organization linking directly to the news article. If you want the exposure or engagement on your site, it would be appropriate to link there regarding the news for a blog post on the topic, or a public statement/reaction from your organization.

    Hope these help!
