Changing the size of the area on a master layout

Options

Hi Blackbaud community,

I have created a Landing Page, and also created a new layout which does not use the main menu area or region. When I add an image to the banner area, there is a big blank area which appears between the banner area and the next row which contains text (see below, this is looking at the webpage from an iphone). I am assuming that the area where the menu was supposed to go is “locked” and even though I am not adding anything there, it still keeps that area. Is there a way to make that region smaller? I have removed the menu blocks and rows but it still locks that area. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The best way to figure this out is to use the Inspect tool (easiest in a browser, not a phone) to view the css. The banner area may have a preset background height, either in px or vh. That could be done so that banner area is consistently the same size. Notice the gradient on the background as well - another clue that something is set in the banner region.

There are a lot of things to try to give you hints of what is going on. Does this happen in a web browser as well? You say you are adding an image to your “banner area”. So, is the Banner area already defined? What does the page look like if you don't add any image?

Unfortunately, there are a lot of things that can be causing this and it's probably specific to your website's use of the layouts. You may need to reach out to support and/or search the knowledgebase on Master Layouts. I do not think there is a one size fits all answer to this.

  • Thanks for your response, @Julie Horvath. It is most noticeable on the mobile phone, on the laptop it looks good and on the desktop it starts to look more spread out. I agree, that it is something specific to that page layout. I will continue to research, I will post back when I figure out what is causing this.

    Thanks again.
