Best Reports for Total Revenue?

We are having our yearly audit and I am new to RE and audits. Our Accountant has asked me for a report showing total revenue for specific years. I've run a Fund Comparison Summary for the dates specified (would have run a Campaign summary, but many gifts from our Donor Perfect days did not have Campaigns assigned), which of course doesn't match an export that I did for every gift within the date ranges provided.

We don't have Crystal Reports so I can't build anything custom. Suggestions, tips, tricks for a Report showing total revenue for specific years? Any other reports that you have found useful for Auditors?

Hi Sarah, I use Financial Reports/Gift Detail and Summary for most financial reporting needs in RE. Lots of options for pulling data by date range, appeals, gift type, etc. And on the primary screen, you can choose 'detail', 'summary,' or 'both' for report type. So if you're just looking for total #s, the 'summary' report type is a simple, clean format, I've used the 'detail' version for audit purposes (i.e.. donors who've given $5K or more within the FY), because I could include address info.

@Michele Stauff can you please share the set up for the gift detail and summary report for reporting on total raised for the fiscal year? I'm particularly interested to know what gift types you are including and how you report the total. Thank you.

Make sure everyone is be really clear about what they mean by “Revenue”. From experience, I can tell you that it means different things to different organizations. Basically, do they want Pledges included? Full Pledge Amount or Balance due? Or do they want Pledge Payments only?

It seems like it shouldn't be that complicated but it is a conversation I need to have frequently.
