Importing master recurring gifts in database view or web view

I wanted to import a completely new recurring gift via database view, but have been told by support you cant create an import to do that and that you have to add them on manually! I find this incredible, how time consuming, how does anyone else get round this?

This knowledgebase solution explains how to import recurring gifts. It can only be done in database view - webview does not have import functionality.

The confusion might be due to the way recurring gifts process in webview vs. database view. In webview, they are automated and the charge processes without you needing to intervene. In database view, you do need to initiate the process. It could be that support was responding to whether or not you can import via webview, OR that they are just trying to steer you to add them in webview so that they process automatically.

I feel fairly confident you could import them into database view and convert so that they process automatically, but not confident enough. This article has some information on doing that.

If you would prefer them to process automatically in webview, I would make sure you are very clear on how to manage them. Discuss with your finance team too, because you may need to adjust procedures related to batches.
