Emailing gift reports using queue

Options

I've been tasked with emailing monthly fund reports to department heads. I have my queue set up but get an error that says "there is no email program associated to perform the requested action. Please install and email program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel. Has anyone else had this happen?

    @Angie ONeill Are you hosted by Blackbaud or are you self-hosted on premise? This knowledgebase solution talks about how to use the Queue module in the hosted environment.

    I was under the impression that one is unable to send emails from Queue in the hosted environment, but this paragraph of the KB solution implies differently. Unfortunately, it does not provide a link to any instructions on how to set up a mail server when hosted.

    If there is an option to enable one to send emails via Queue in the hosted environment I'm looking forward to hearing from others about how to do that.

    NOTE: OnDemand and Scheduled queues are available features in the hosting environment. However, certain functionalities are not available when running scheduled queues in the Blackbaud Hosting Services environment:

    • Printing: Scheduled queues run directly on Blackbaud hosted servers, and printing in hosting is designed to map to the default printer on a user's local workstation. Given that the scheduled queue is not running on a user's local machine, the printing function will not work for scheduled queues. Printing to a local printer is possible when running OnDemand queues since a user is logged in to run the queue.
    • Emailing: The Financial Edge Queue Service does not allow a mail server to be selected when hosted. This option is available in The Raiser's Edge.
    • Exports: Scheduled queues run directly on Blackbaud hosted servers. Scheduled exports will only run successfully when saved to the Hosting Services Files Folder, and must use the UNC file path for databases in Azure (How to access the files location in Microsoft Azure environment). Exporting to the local drive in a scheduled queue will not work because there is no direct connection between the server and the workstation when the queue is run on Blackbaud's servers. Exporting to a local workstation is possible when running OnDemand queues since a user is logged in to run the queue.
  • @Carlene Johnson Yes we are hosted. I chatted with support yesterday and he walked me through how to set it up but it still isn't sending. They are going to look in to it and get back to me. I'm in a time crunch and figured out a workout by setting up a queue to run monthly and then upload the docs to a Sharepoint folders. Those with permission to view the folder can then access the reports.

    @Angie ONeill
    Sounds like a good short term solution, but agree that an actual fix will be nice! Keep us posted as to how it is resolved.
