I'm at Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento, CA, working on RE/RENXT for almost 7 years. I encouraged our team to start using Events and now found something that helps make event-life easier.

Hi! I'm Austen Brown. I work for Prenger Solutions Group as a Database Consultant & Automation Engineer. I've been working in RE NXT for over a decade. In my free time, you can find me ‘hiking with a purpose’ aka playing disc golf with my husband.

  • @Crystal Bruce
Hi, I've been a RENXT database manager for 18 years and just started a job at my 4th organization - The Amherst Wilder Foundation. I spent 16 of the past eighteen years at 2 private schools, so this is a nice change. My previous organization was one of the first to get the web view in 2015 and I've enjoyed keeping up with all of the changes with that view. I am a big fan of building insights and dashboards and enjoy the challenge of making that view work for what we need.

In my spare time I'm an artist and exhibit with the Minnesota Watercolor Sociey and in solo exhibitions.

  • @Crystal Bruce
Hi, I live in York, PA, just south of Hershey (chocolate candy). I am just a few hours away from Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh. I have been using Raiser's Edge since 2001. Okay, so now I am dating myself. In the last two years, I have used NXT more than just the database view. I am still learning new tricks in RENXT.

I love to knit in my spare time. I have 13 grandchildren. At Christmas, 4 received blankets, which means I only have nine more to do :)

  • This feels like a weird time to introduce myself as we're about to move away from Raiser's Edge in the next couple of weeks ? but I work at a UK university - I joined the team 9 years ago just as we were migrating to RE so it's been interesting to be involved in the full migration process this time rather than just the tail end!

I won't be going far though as we're moving to Blackbaud CRM so I'll still be lurking around the forums… ?

I have worked with RE for over 13 years. Started with conversion to RE and working part-time from home to full time dba. Now at second org: South Dakota Mines Center for Alumni Relations & Advancement (CARA) - fundraising for university. Still learning NXT and admittedly not a fan as it seems like I run into something it can't do more times than not. Enjoy working in database view. Am hoping I retire before they retire db view. LOL

Enjoy living in the Black Hills, volunteer work with international students, doing puzzles of all kinds and playing games with friends.

  • @Crystal Bruce Hello everyone! I've been using Database view for almost 12 years now and the web view for several years now. I still use the Database view more.

I'm in Middle Tennessee, but originally from Michigan. I definitely appreciate the warmer winters here. I enjoy gardening, and yard work (almost anything outdoors), knitting, and I dabble a little in sewing.

  • @Crystal Bruce Hello community! I am the Development and Marketing Coordinator for Brevard Schools Foundation - the nonprofit support for Brevard Public Schools - located on the Space Coast of FL. Yes it is awesome to watch the rocket launches!

I have been using RE since “before the turn of the century” ?? From RE for Windows early edition to RE6, RE7 and not RE NXT. I have been in & out of the RE world and hence active and dormant in the community. Glad to be back.

Since moving to FL over 3 years ago, I have added watching rocket launches and year-round walks to my things to do and am an avid reader.

  • @Crystal Bruce
Howdy. I've been using RE since for eeek 17 years come June. I had a couple months poking around NXT but have been RE “Classic” since I started. Been in high schools until this last job which is a grade 2-8 school in the San Francisco Bay Area serving students with Dyslexia and language based learning differences. Off time, meeting time, wait time is when the knitting needles appear for sanity, peace, meditation and creativity.

I enjoy seeing/hearing the perspectives and boots in the mud solutions folks share in the community and how we all help the newbs do it right the first time so the messy data legacy can die off. :-).

  • @JoAnn Strommen What exactly is the status of retiring Database View? I would be devastated.

@Jill Hempfing It's a sales pitch item for sure. Four years ago they sold the IT guy at my former org. We were small org that just needed record keeping for donations. No MGOs or need for webview but “database will be going away” and they bought it!

It's been talked about for some time from what I hear but as a db view user there will have to be so many upgrades and additions to make webview usable to db staff or there would be a revolt, IMO. It's great for MGO/dev staff but still lacks so many functions you have and use in db view.

  • @Crystal Bruce Hi! I'm Mikaela and I'm coming up on one year of using RE in my role with North Memorial Health Foundation. This is my first fundraising role post college and I'm enjoying learning from the experts :)

In my free time I like to hang out with my dog, listen to podcasts, and enjoy the Minnesota weather when it's not below freezing!

  • @Crystal Bruce Hello! I am an EdTech consultant who just founded a non-profit. I am very interested in learning about Raiser's Edge system administration and am browsing here to discover Blackbaud's product training solutions.

Hello, I'm Dariel Dixon. You might remember me from such community posts as Assessing your Blackbaud contract or Managing Relationship & Acknowledgee Addresses. I've been using RE for about 12 years now. I currently reside in North Carolina. I'm pretty active on the boards, and will try to answer questions and share what I know.

  • @Crystal Bruce
Hi, I am Tineke Hage from Surprise, Arizona. I am the database analyst for Benevilla, a nonprofit that assists Seniors with dementia and Alzheimer's and their caregivers. We also help seniors stay in their homes by assisting them with grocery shopping, minor home repairs and rides to appointments. I have been using Raiser's Edge for over 10 years. A fun fact, I only changed my last name by 1 letter when I got married, my maiden name is Hare.

  • Hi everyone!

I'm Joanne Felci, Database Admin for Fenway Health in Boston, MA. I've been a RE user since 2008, NXT web view user since 2020. I've also used BBNC, Luminate and am now implementing Research Point. I used to post more on Community but have gotten so busy I rarely have time. But I am SO grateful to this community and the knowledge they share. ?

  • @Crystal Bruce Thank you! How do I post here to introduce myself?

  • @Kathleen Mone I guess I just did! Today is my first day using RE. I enrolled in training for 4/19 live instruction but can anyone recommend a faster way to get started?

  • @Kathleen Mone Welcome! I would recommend getting familiar with your records, read actions and notes, see how your data is entered. Check out the on demand training and follow along with basic queries, exports and such. Try something like this Webinar: The Raiser's Edge 7 Query Basics - YouTube

Best of luck and definitely use the forums as a tool.

  • @Crystal Bruce
Hello, I am new to RENXT. I work for a K-6 school in Memphis, TN. I have used 2 other platforms, just converted to this one, and still navigating my way. I inadvertently entered a gift twice and would like to delete the dupe. I found that gifts entered in web view cannot be deleted. Is there a way to delete with database view? I can't find anything that addresses that. Any feedback is appreciated! Thanks!

    @Jeanie Gundlach
There's 2 ways you can delete a webview gift:

    1. use SKY API Gift Delete endpoint
    2. use database view global delete function targetting specifically that gift
  • @Jeanie Gundlach
Believe me, you're not the only one who's done this. A user with sufficient rights can delete a gift. Just be sure the errant entry didn't get into your general ledger, or you'll need to fix that, too. Another option is that you may be able to adjust the amount to zero so as not to gum up reporting, even though the gift will still be sitting there on the gift tab. Not the end of the world! Best of luck!

  • @Alex Wong
    Thanks so much!!

  • @James Kew
Thanks a bunch! I tried to “0” it out but in saving and closing it was still there. Maybe though, as you say, it won't appear in reports. It's not the end of the world anyway, because it's a recurring gift by credit card for $1.00. Yes, you read that right, haha! We net $.96 from that each month. Counts for participation though, ?

    @James Kew
I think Jeanie is talking about the “ability” to delete outside of security permission.

RE NXT did made it NOT possible to delete (delete is grayed out even having supervisor rights) a gift that is created by the webview.

The options I mention is the only way to delete a webview created gift (at least last i encountered this, which is about half year ago).

  • @Alex Wong
    Ah, understood. Thank you!
