Database View very slow, halting, glitchy for weeks now

Options

Has anyone else had this problem? We notified Blackbaud customer support, of course, but they didn't have much to say - only that we would need to ask our IT people to un-install and then re-install Citrix. We're very reluctant to do that because of the downtime for our business. Does anyone else have an experience to share?

@Marci Philbin - Welcome to BB Community! There have been a few reports of something similar to what you are experiencing with the Facebook RE User Group - if you are not already a member, I recommend you join.

If I can locate the post mentioned above, I'll post a link to it in another comment.

  • @Marci Philbin I thought it was just me. I restarted my computer this morning when RE was slow but it didn't help at all. I was typing and the system had a 30 second delay.

  • @Marci Philbin - Hi! Yes, it's a common thing (for me anyway) to experience glitchy things happening with the database, especially slowness. When I'm having trouble, I often refer to status.blackbaud.com. This lists any reported issues and the status of Blackbaud fixing them. It just helps when you aren't sure if it's system wide, or your issue.

  • @Marci Philbin I myself haven't experienced this in the time period you've mentioned BUT either way, I would suggest using a wired connection to your internet in case you are not already doing so. I find that WiFi yields less than desirable results when using the Database view of Raiser's Edge.

I agree. JUst told our problem was the same reason we can not do what we use to do.

  • @Codi Riley
We are on the East Coast as well and we experience the exact same. It has been going on for weeks and it is awful from an efficiency standpoint.

  • @Valerie Trego Yes we thought it was just us but obviously not!

Maybe this is limited to a particular data center? I haven't seen any issues at all recently.

  • @Dariel Dixon How would a customer help BB Support to determine if it is a particular data center?

@Darlene LeVielle I don't think we would. They would have to see a pattern and investigate on their own.

  • @Dariel Dixon Yes, this is done by filling out a latency log that we have done previously. This issue happenes on and off and when it's on, it causes inefficiencies for a givien timeframe.

  • If you create a ticket with support, reference “Blackbaud Support Case 019196962: Extreme slowness in Database View”. This case has been open since January.

  • @John DeMarce Thank you John, I have added this information to my case#.

Thank you for this post. I am experiencing the same issue and have exhausted the options given by Blackbaud support on the issue and hours with our local IT folks trying to figure out where the problem actually lies. I am in Idaho (PST) and notice the slowdown typically from 8am-1pm. My average delay is about 3-5 seconds per keystroke, which is maddening. Sometimes much worse. We are still trying to confirm if this is an issue with Blackbaud's servers, but of course that may never be disclosed. If you find anything that helps or any confirmation I would love to know?
