How to build a query to find email addresses on more than one record

Options

I'm trying to think of a way to create a maintenance query to run regularly to find records that share the same email address. We want to review records that are for different people but sharing the same email, and also find duplicates where it's actually the same person (duplicate tools don't seem very good at finding these). I just can't think of a way to do it, other than pulling all the records out into excel and identifying them that way. Does anyone know how to do it?

  • Amanda, unfortunately, I am unaware of any feature in RE that does this well. The Duplicate Tool, as you noted, does not screen on duplicate emails (or phones) at all - not even amongst its algorithm criteria:

I believe you have to perform this cleanup in Excel. That being said, it should be an easy task in excel; from there, you can bulk add a tag to potential duplicate records and perform comparative screening from there.

Hi @Amanda Tindale - I second what Faith has posted. There is no easy way to do this within RE, you will need to export data to excel for analysis. I recommend utilizing an Export and the “Conditional Formatting > Highlight Duplicate Values” tool in excel.

  • Thank you both - I'll give that a try.
