Looking for information about online giving platforms

Options

I'm trying to find out what online giving platforms everyone uses? I've used NXT and online express at my previous job. I'm basically starting from scratch at my current job. I am now just using Raisers Edge, I'm hoping to get them to convert to online express next year. If someone makes a donation now, it goes through Canada Helps. I'm hoping there is another platform (Stripe, donorbox, net community, luminate, paypal…)that we can use. I've not had any luck looking through the different websites.

Any suggestions, would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Darlene Ellis, we use Online Express for our Tribute and EFT donations. We also use an NXT Donation form for regular online credit card gifts (NXT forms do not handle Tribute gifts). For crowdfunding pages, we currently use MobileCause which integrates to RE database view via Importacular plug in. Of the various online forms, I would recommend OLX or NXT donations forms the most. My big issue with MobileCause is the import process can be time consuming and cumbersome.

Hi @Darlene Ellis - Welcome to BB Community! Can you define what you mean by “just using Raiser's Edge”? Do you mean you only have access to RE7/Database View, no NXT?

  • Sorry. We don't have online express or NXT. They really haven't been using the system the way it should be so I'm trying to move them in that direction. They will not go to RENXT until next year.

  • I used online express and NXT at my previous job but I really don't think they are ready for that yet.

Since you don't have NXT, OLX is probably your best bet for an BB donation form option. There are alternative options from third-party vendors but you will need to have a connection to bring data in to RE (suspect you're already doing this with Canada Helps). I recommend you check your org's current RE contract to see if you are already paying for OLX; it is usually an add-on product/cost without an NXT contract.

  • @Darlene Ellis - My previous job we used Network for Good before switching to Online Express. My current organization used Stripe for processing the credit cards but I am not sure how the donation landing page worked on our website. Now we use Fundraise Up for our online donations and RENXT for credit/direct donations received in-house. Would you like me to find out more information on when we used Stripe for online donations?

  • I thought you needed RENXT to use online express?

Hi @Darlene Ellis - You do not need to have NXT in order to use OLX. You can add OLX to your RE7 contract, as an add-on product.
