Tracking Results for Campaigns

A couple of folks have sent emails asking how to track donations etc that come in as part of a campaign.

Question 1: Is there a way to determine if various email campaigns produce actual donations - specifically, the welcome series.

Answer: Yes, the best way to take a look at donations resulting from an email message or email campaign is to navigate to Email >> Email Campaigns >> Campaigns tab >> Click "Manage" next the campaign you'd like to look at >> Reports tab On the reports tab, you will should see a drop down that includes these two reports: "Email Response Summary" and "Email Response Details" Each of those reports will allow you to specify a message from the campaign and then you can look at the number of responses (summary report) and the individuals who responded (details report).

Question 2: Which report is the best one to run if I want to find out donor names, amounts, and dates of donations for our Year End Appeal?

Answer: For looking at specific donations for a campaign, what you'll want to do here is navigate to: Fundraising >> Donation Management >> Donation Reports tab on that page you will see a drop down which includes a report called "Donations by transaction report". When you click to run this report, you can walk through the steps by clicking the next button at the bottom of the screen. On the "Form Filtering" step, you can designate that you only want to look at transactions from a specific form. When you choose that option, a list of active forms will be shown, and you want to choose the one that is called "End of year 2008" or it might be referred to as "EOY 2008". If you have any trouble identifying which form is the end of year campaign, let us know and we'll help you figure out which form you need to run the report on.

Important note: when you run the donations by transaction report, you will want to wait til it is finished running and then download the report to your computer to view it. When you download the report you will be able to see all columns of data in the report as opposed to the limited view you get when you simply click the "view" link in your browser.
